Marina Bay Sands

One of the newest developments in Singapore is the multi-use Marina Bay Sands, a combination hotel/casino/mall/museum/dining/convention/theater complex.  According to Wikipedia this is "world's most expensive standalone casino property" at $8B Singapore dollars.  This is probably the most awe-inducing and excessive development I've seen in person, and that includes both Vegas and Macau.

The main structure is 3 massive terraces hotel towers, capped by a continuous single deck, the 340-meter long "SkyPark", which includes an observation platform, a restaurant, a nightclub, and a rather extraordinary infinity pool.  The mall is a multi-story, vertigo-inducing open atrium, that for good measure also includes a canal with boats (yes, these guys own all of the Venetian hotel-casinos as well).  Then there's the "world's largest atrium casino", which makes Vegas look rather modest.  There's also a section of the complex labeled "Celebrity Restaurants", featuring outlets by Guy Savoy, Daniel Boulud, Mario Batali, and Wolfgang Puck.

It's a rather fascinating monument to excess and vice.
